Becoming an

Experiential Educator

JOIN US FOR BECOMING AN EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATOR

Are you seeking ways to engage your learners to have more impact?

Are you a subject matter expert educating others without a firm grounding in instructional design or adult learning theories?

Are you uncertain about how to design and deliver your courses or training programs using Experiential Learning?

Please join our Becoming an Experiential Educator program to learn best practices that will guide you to design, deliver, evaluate, and continuously improve your courses using Kolb’s Experiential Learning theory. Our experienced faculty will introduce you to the ideas of Experiential Learning, a research-based theory, and show you how to expand what you are already doing to become a more flexible experiential educator.

The process of becoming an experiential educator involves honoring the full cycle of experiential learning by playing multiple roles in the learning process. Highly effective educators use four different educator roles to organize their educational activities in such a manner that they address all four learning modes—experiencing, reflecting, thinking, and acting. As they do this, they lead learners around the learning cycle, shifting the role they play depending on the stage of the cycle they are addressing.  If you are seeking more impact with your learners, this method will give you a more solid theoretical understanding as well as tips and best practices to improve your own educational processes.

This program is especially targeted to educators and trainers who wish to bring Experiential Education into their work and may have not been introduced to Kolb Experiential Learning Theory. The Kolb Educator Role Profile self-assessment is included in this program.

This program will assist you in becoming a better experiential educator by:

  • Reviewing the foundations of experiential learning
  • Introducing experiential learning theory and the four learning modes
  • Debunking common misconceptions about experiential learning
  • Discovering how to move among educator roles to help learners engage in deep learning,
  • Examining one’s own profile of educator role preferences
  • Formulating strategies to enhance our ability to play key roles in the teaching and learning process.
