The process of becoming an experiential educator involves honoring the full cycle of experiential learning by playing multiple roles in the learning process. Highly effective educators use four different educator roles to organize their educational activities in such a manner that they address all four learning modes—experiencing, reflecting, thinking, and acting. As they do this, they lead learners around the learning cycle, shifting the role they play depending on the stage of the cycle they are addressing.  If you are seeking more impact with your learners, this method will give you a more solid theoretical understanding as well as tips and best practices to improve your own educational processes.

This program is especially targeted to educators and trainers who wish to bring Experiential Education into their work and may have not been introduced to Kolb Experiential Learning Theory.

This program will assist you in becoming a better experiential educator by:

  • Reviewing the foundations of experiential learning
  • Introducing experiential learning theory and the four learning modes
  • Debunking common misconceptions about experiential learning
  • Discovering how to move among educator roles to help learners engage in deep learning,
  • Examining one’s own profile of educator role preferences
  • Formulating strategies to enhance our ability to play key roles in the teaching and learning process.

How it works

The Becoming an Experiential Educator Program will include the following elements:

  • Assessments: The Kolb Educator Role Profile
  • Content to provide research-based information and build expertise:  Content will be delivered with videos and readings on an asynchronous flipped classroom platform that supports Experiential Learning and includes reflective exercises
  • Interactive and experiential virtual event to deepen new knowledge: Two-hour interactive session with S. R Aurora (formerly Mai Trinh). You will receive login instructions to the live virtual session after you complete the work.
