Learn to design engaging online learning programs using emerging technologies.

Creating engaging, technology-enabled learning experiences requires us to think differently. It’s not just about using technology to deliver your course as closely as your can to your face-to-face class. It’s about re-thinking how you might leverage available digital tools and technology to achieve your intended learning outcomes.

This program will step you through the process of re-thinking your face-to-face course for a technology enabled paradigm. In this course, you will create a real-world context and project your students can complete to demonstrate learning.

You will develop rubrics to academically assess real world experiences and artifacts, and learn how to scaffold learning content around a project.

Skills You Will Gain

Experiential learning, instructional design, course evaluation, technology evaluation, learning analytics

Learning Outcomes

  • Use instructional design theory and learning theory to design a technology-enabled learning program
  • Integrate technical and human skills learning outcomes into a cohesive learning experience
  • Use learning technology to structure a learning program
  • Integrate learning analytics into course design, facilitation and evaluation
  • Reflect on your educator role profile and how it impacts your course design process

How It Works

This course is designed using project-based learning principles. As you work through the course content you will step through the process of re-designing a current course you teach or create a new one from scratch. At each stage of the instructional design process you will receive feedback from instructional design and education technology experts.

When you finish the course and complete your development plan, you will earn a digital credential.
